[kwlug-disc] KDM confusion

I am working at getting a dual-head setup so that I can use my PC for
the dual purposes of desktop PC and media centre PC. I've
experimented a bit and I think I can get a couple of different
ServerLayouts set up in my xorg.conf so that I can choose when
starting X whether I'd like to use just the monitor, just the TV or
both. I know that I can use 'startx -- -layout <layout name>' to
accomplish this, but I'd still like to use a graphical login (KDM)
rather than console login (mainly for ease of use for other users).
I think changing which screens are active requires a fresh start of
the X server. Given that, I think my best bet is to have KDM running
on localhost:0, and somehow direct it to start a new X server on
localhost:1 whenever I log in. I've been reading the KDM handbook and
searching forums a bit, but I can't quite work it out.
I think I need to modify the kdmrc file and possibly modify the
default Xsession file. Does that seem reasonable? Does anyone know
if such a thing is even possible?
