[kwlug-disc] so ... what's your opinion on linux anti-virus software?

a (sort of) acquaintance is asking about my recommendations for
anti-virus software for both linux servers and workstations, and is
admitting that he's already been told that viruses aren't that big an
issue with linux and, coming from a windows world, he's finding that
hard to believe.

i briefly recommended running a root kit hunter on a regular basis,
but i'm not sure what else to say. klamav? perhaps an online doc on
how to secure linux systems?

normally, i'd be much more verbose in terms of giving advice for
linux security:

  * install as little software as possible
  * turn off all unnecessary services
  * all admins need to go thru "sudo" for accountability

i mean, the list just goes on and on, but in terms of viruses, i'm
never really sure what to say.

thoughts? pointers to good online papers? thanks.
