I've recently purchased a used Toshiba Tecra that works really well with 
Linux. I was told it's a "business class" laptop so it will take a bit 
more abuse then others. It's not the newest knife in the drawer but it 
certainly can keep up with anything I've thrown at it. Single processor 
Intel 2 ghz.  with nvidia video.  It doesn't have a built in webcam, 
which is the only real downside I can see with this laptop.
