Open or Closed?Choosing the right software model is an increasingly
difficult decision for both business and academic researchers. This
half-day session will bring together representatives from proprietary
and open software vendors, as well as university researchers, to discuss
this critical strategic choice. Whether you’re contemplating a start-up,
looking to expand your product line, or trying to share a research
project with the world, this forum will offer insights into your
alternatives.

The Open or Closed? Choosing the Right Software Model forum will
include:

      * Keynote address by Greg DeKoenigsberg, Senior Community
        Development Manager for Red Hat, one of the world's leading
        providers of Linux and open source technology
      * Proprietary, Open Source or a Hybrid a panel discussion with
        firms using each of these strategies featuring:
              * Moderator: Evan Leibovitch, the Executive Director of
                CLUE- Canadian Association for Open Source 
              * Tom Lee, Chief Evangelist for Maplesoft
              * Perry Roach, CEO of Netsweeper 
              * Jonas Brandon, Director of Business Development for

unify the research partnership meeting C4 regularly holds, bringing
together industrial, commercial, and academic researchers to find ways
