You are saying this to Kahlid (SQL on 2nd drive) or as solution for
this thread?

I'm not hot and heavy about symlinking, I was more casting about
ineptly with a guess at a term that describes where I was trying to get.
In the end, as long as when I go to /home/unsolicited, or
/data/unsolicited, I'm on the 2nd drive, I'm happy. The term of the
method used doesn't concern me, beyond knowing what to call it to look
it up to effect it.
And that different approaches may have different non-intuitive
ramifications. e.g. total disk used not be total space used for both
disks, due to a symlink being followed unexpectedly. vs. those times
when you do want the symlink to be followed. (-:
e.g. If I say backup /, I want the partition, not the system.
Another element as to why I'm keen on this - give me the very
smallest, yet COMPLETE, OS file set for bare metal backup or restore.
Let me mondo/mindi the smallest set I can, restore that, and not have
to play with reinstalling or re-entering or xyz - in the situation of
needing it, people are in enough of a panic and hurry already. And not
remembering ... what did we change that setting to again? Data can
come back next, but get me the OS as it was when I imaged it just
before it fell over / went boom.
