So here is the situation.
I managed to get offsite backups back after a long hiatus.
The short version: a disk drive dock that accepts 2.5" or 3.5" disks
does the trick. It comes with a SATA and USB connection.
The USB version works fine. The SATA part does not work.

Anyone had experience with eSATA and is it hotpluggable under Linux?
Do you need certain BIOS features for this?
