Please convince me that this second site is legal. I could
potentially believe that John's regexp might be legal, but from what I
can tell CBC does not permit the redistribution of its content. I
would like to hear evidence to the contrary, because I listen to a lot
of CBC podcasts and would like to share them from time to time.
The first website looks like it links to the original files, so maybe
it is okay. The wordpress site looks like it mirrors the content.
There are two issues here, I guess. One is the principle of taking
only that which is freely given. None of these solutions pass this
test, because clearly the CBC could release these podcasts on its
podcasting page if it wished. However, it chooses not to.
The second principle has to do with copyright law. Others have
different opinions, but I feel that we Linux/sane copyright advocates
do ourselves no good by arguing for sane copyright on one hand and
pirating material on the other.
Wow. Am I a stick in the mud or what?
