Sorry, I wasn't sure if by "lookalike" you meant it was different
branding or a different phone.

I haven't really gotten the appeal of Google's Android over Palm's
WebOS (disclosure: I own a Palm Prē). Every palm device can be rooted
(it's a standard passphrase to enable "development" mode), you can
install your own apps if you so desire. Furthermore, it actually runs
GStreamer and Pulseaudio, so theoretically it more closely resembles a
modern Linux distribution.

On the downside, they're probably just as bad as Google when it comes
to getting their patches upstream. It seems Palm used the "Throw it
over the wall and forget about it" technique, whereas Google used the
"Throw it at the right people then forget" technique.

That said, I've only used a G1 for a few hours, so maybe I was missing
something.
