OK. The above prompted this guy, one who is not in the "know", to look
some things up ...
Briefly (and, maybe, inaccurate):
* Debian is a free (FLOSS) OS development under GNU based on the
GNU/Linux kernel.
* Ubuntu is derivative of Debian.
* Debian-Etch is an older, stable release of Debian (1st release 2007).
* Debian-Etch: last update May 2010, and as of Feb 2010 Debian-Etch is
also no longer supported w/security updates
* Debian-Lenny is also an older, stable release of Debian (1st release
2009) superseding Debian-Etch
* Debian-Squeeze is the current stable release of Debian (1st release
Feb 2011) superseding Lenny
* Ubuntu-Natty is a derivative of previous releases of Ubuntu and is
based on Debian-Lenny
Conclusion: Ubuntu-Natty will bring in "the latest version of Debian
stable (squeeze)" and, as advised, should do the trick for me.
