My experience with WebOS is that non-focused apps do continue to work.
This can be illustrated by opening a browser to a web page, then switch
to another app. When you switch back, the browser will have fetched the
page.
The best-practices for palm's sdk supports this, indicating that when
you've been minimized to a card, you should run "conservatively".
WebOS does not update the display for non-active cards, though, so the
repaint happens when you switch back. This could cause some confusion
about background tasks.
