Are you trying to capture satellite, cable, over the air?  Also what's your 
output? Svideo, component, HDMI?

I've somehow managed to get a mythtv install up and running on a pc.

I think I need two pieces of hardware though - I believe I need an entry
level tv capture card and I think they make some sort of remote control
devices we can use instead of a keyboard?

Any thoughts on what hardware I should buy, hopefully locally, for those
two things?  I'd hate to buy something then find out it's not linux
compatible.
