Thanx, John. On Friday I had just decided to give up on Unity for the
very reason of not being able to figure out how to run multiple session
of an application. I tried CTRL+clicking on the Unity app launcher,
ALT+click, SHIFT+click, left-click, right-click... Nothing. I want my
app launcher to behave like an app launcher, not an app switcher.

I'm not sure if I want to return to Unity just yet. I also miss my
Gnome panel applets for CPU frequency switching, CPU temperature, the
System Monitor.... Conky just isn't the same as panel applets.
