Liberals: "This is a very important issue. A Liberal government is
committed to creating copyright legislation that protects the rights
of creators and -- unlike the Conservatives -- will not criminalize
Canadians for conducting daily activities."

Conservatives: "The conservatives have done more to bring Canadian
copyright into the 21st century than any other party. Through
consultation with Canadians we created legislation that would have
brought Canada into the 21st century -- legislation that allowed time
shifting, format shifting, and mash-ups. Then the Liberals forced this
unnecessary election that Canadians didn't want and thrown us back
into noncompliance of international treaties."

Everybody else: who cares what they say? They won't get elected. 

Of course I am paraphrasing the responses, but the point is that
reasonable questions like these will not get any substantive promises
or even any substantive information. I think it is worth putting
together some questions we can ask at all-candidates meetings, but
nice people like Adam never get very far in getting their real
concerns addressed. In addition candidates are not accountable for
what they say during election campaigns, as is proved after every
election. If I was not so lazy I would find some of the court cases
that demonstrated this and link to them.
