[kwlug-disc] RPM won't install, won't uninstall

Yes, agreed!  Tired!!  Actually that example was from last night.
The rpm package name as installed in the rpm db and rpm package
itself are two different things.

I did also try to uninstall it with: rpm -e lin_tape  and that did not
work.
