Okay, it's technically VoIP in that it uses VoIP technology, but it's
better to think of it as "digital phone service over cable" because it
is a special modem/ata operating on a dedicated frequency over the coax.
There is no way to use any of your own hardware (modem or ata), and you
cannot move the box to another location or access the service over the
Internet or anywhere else on your own LAN. For all practical purposes,
it is just a rj-45 phone line in your house in virtually all respects
just like a standard POTS line -Service quality, uptime, flexibility and
features are intentionally set up to closely match POTS, not VoIP.

Heck, many POTS providers and services use VoIP technology in various
places, there is a grey area and it's best not to confuse the issue by
calling Rogers Home Phone VoIP.
