You are probably mostly concerned with network bandwidth getting 
saturated during the day, correct?  If that is the case then I don't 
think nice/ionice will help as they will set priority for processes on 
how much CPU and disk they have access to.  Why don't you ship a hard 
drive with next day service to the client and get them to ship it back 
:)
