I have used tightVNC for remote support to windows clients. We put a link on our website, and the customer would click, and download the software, it would start up, and they would be able to pick one of four agents. It worked very well. I will see if I can find my setup notes it was an easy set-up. I did not use it to connect to linux clients though.
