Yes, systemd makes writing init scripts (unit files now), very easy,
and structured. That is a good point going for it, plus the faster
reboot.
Those are not the problems that cause much objections, the problem is
the kitchen sink mentality (login, NTP, DHCP, DNS, ...), binary logs,
and lack of choice (e.g. Gnome forcing a systemd dependency, you
cannot have Gnome with another init system).
Someone already took the good parts of systemd, and removed the binary
log, and dependency chain. So we get the good syntax, faster boot
without those.
