My mistake, thanks for clarifying. I'm really a newbie when it comes to
networking, so please excuse my misinterpretation of the problem.

I suppose that would make sense for a school network set up, thanks for the
explanation. I suppose I should do what I should have done in the first
place and try to get an AP up and running.

After a bit of research, I've discovered that the reason why I was unable
to get one going before (that's why I asked about the ports) is because the
dongle we're using in class (TP-Link WN725N v2) requires a secondary driver
to enable software access points. Hopefully I'll get this properly working
tomorrow :)
