I am revisiting a discussion about git, one that I spawned about 18
months ago.
And I recalled that in the discussion was a suggestion that my use of
the git console was "hardcore".
I can take a hint.
I used the Google to see if there was a was to "view" changes to a file
without checking versions out from the git repo.
see:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/338436/is-there-a-quick-git-command-to-see-an-old-version-of-a-file
usage: gitk /path-to-file
comment: works very well
More results from the Google:
see: https://git-scm.com/download/gui/linux
excerpt:: Git comes with built-in GUI tools for committing (git-gui) and
browsing (gitk) ...
And from the original discussion:
see: http://nvie.com/posts/a-successful-git-branching-model/
Learning by doing.
Hopefully, in the right direction.
