That's shady. So basically stay away from TLC drives.

And sadly, there's also the bait-and-switch that Kingston did, where they
switched from synchronous NAND in the early drives (used by reviewers) to
cheaper, slower asynchronous NAND in the drives you'd be more likely to buy.
