Hi: I'm working on a new installation of Ubuntu 15.10 with MySQL, and
I see that the config file /etc/mysql/my.cnf is a symlink to a file in
/etc/alternatives/my.cnf but that's just a symlink back to the orignal
file. What gives?

root at irving:/# ls -l /etc/mysql/my.cnf
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 24 Oct 23 21:26 /etc/mysql/my.cnf ->
/etc/alternatives/my.cnf

root at irving:/# ls -l /etc/alternatives/my.cnf
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 Oct 23 21:29 /etc/alternatives/my.cnf ->
/etc/mysql/mysql.cnf
