Don't think so.

Commercial software ... maybe.

Largely, commercial enterprises create software because they have a need 
to fill. Some (, many?) contribute some of that back to the open source 
version. subversion comes to mind, but I'm not sure of that. Nothing 
should change for these cases, contributed back or not, IIUC.
