I agree. So does Eevee (whose blog is excellent, incidentally). Here
is a pretty great post that goes into some details about the
differences.

In terms of personal use, my knowledge of Python is so shallow that I
mostly cannot tell the difference between Python 2 and Python 3 code,
so I write in Python 3 by default. It has been fine.
