[kwlug-disc] Mail filtering/smarthost services

I am doing some research on behalf of an organization with 100-200
mailboxes. I do not know how much mail they send to the outside, but
it is probably not more than a few thousand a day. They have an
internal mail server that communicates with an outside server to send
and receive mail from the broader internet. They don't want to expose
their internal server to the internet any more than necessary.
There are some services that offer to send and receive mail on your
behalf. They will filter incoming mail for spam and
viruses/ransomware. Then you can use them as a smarthost for outgoing
mail, and they will deal with the hassle of making sure their
reputation is good on the dozens of blacklists out there.
Does anybody use a service like this? Has anybody investigated these
services? Who is trustworthy and reliable? What is a reasonable price
per month to pay? Filtering malware out of incoming messages is super
important. I think Canadian providers would be preferred but this may
not be a hard constraint.
