I use Liferea <http://lzone.de/liferea/> on my desktop as well as Feedly
<https://feedly.com/i/welcome> (web based with an android app). I
migrated to these two after Google Reader and haven't had any issues
with either. Thunderbird can also act as a feed reader - though I
haven't tried it in that capacity.
