No, Gmail still allows user name and password login. I use it for a
notification tray
widget to let me know that I have unread email. Also allows me to use
get-mail
to archive my email locally, as well as mutt (though I don't do this
often).

Gmail will bug you occasionally that you are using insecure methods and
such, but
I do ignore them.
