[kwlug-disc] Interesting problem i had yesterday with Ubuntu

I installed a piece of software using the command line yesterday, and apt
reported a long list of packages that it claimed were redundant and could
be removed with "sudo apt autoremove". I didn't look very closely at the
list, and when I ran the program and saw some of the packages being removed
I became concerned. I rebooted the computer to discover that the entire
desktop system had been removed, and my computer booted into the command
line login prompt.
Is this a bug, or is this the behaviour I should have expected from that
command? I was able to just install the "ubuntu-studio-desktop" package
and the system was restored almost completely. Still a bit frustrating
though
Brent
