I should also add that the claim that Backdrop CMS is faster out of the box
by
30% is completely real.

On that client web site, 300 ms page generation times became ~ 200 ms.

And the load average overall decreased on the server week over week.

And that is without memcache or Varnish.

Replaced memcache with the core database caching that is in D7/Backdrop,
excluded page cache from the database and setup nginx fastcgi caching in
lieu
of Varnish.
