[kwlug-disc] another presentation idea

Parts of GameMaker have been open sourced, but not the engine itself.
Godot is the goto for most developers who develop FLOSS games, though
there is a big list of engines and frameworks on wikipedia that are
FLOSS. Gamemaker is one of the simplest engines to learn, but lacks 3D
features, and isn't FLOSS. There's a free as in beer version, but it
only lets you code for Opera's GX.games site. You can code full games,
you just cannot export them without paying Opera their various subs.
Still, the latest version is kind of nice as the "Ubuntu" export is to
an AppImage.

Godot is probably the way to go for most people who want to develop 2D
or 3D games under Linux, but I feel like it has a bit more of a
learning curve. Still, it wasn't just GameMaker. When Andrew and I
emailed I mentioned Inkscape, GIMP, Aseprite, and Audacity were a part
of the process too.

Cheers,

Charles
