[kwlug-disc] cell phone plans

If your phone is a cracked antique and sits on a shelf, and all you need is
call forwarding, ask yourself - do you REALLY need a shared data plan?

You could get a lot cheaper unlimited data plan especially with the Black
Friday deals coming out for your wife's plan only.

I'm looking to change up my plan and upgrade my phone, but I'm waiting
until closer to the 28-29th to see what the REAL deals are.

For you, if you really only need call forwarding, you could port your cell
number to voip.ms, then set up call forwarding to your work phone. Porting
the number is a fairly simple process and they take care of it, and is free:
https://wiki.voip.ms/article/Porting_a_Number

I have multiple DID (Direct Inbound Dial) numbers and this costs me
literally $0.85/month for a regular number, and $1.25/month for a toll free
number. I also pay a whopping $1.50/month for e911 in case there is an
emergency.

I've done this for a family member, where we wanted to keep their number,
and set up a simple IVR (Press 1 for X, Press 2 for Y, Press 3 for Z) and
voicemail service (which is basically unlimited voicemail).

If you want to go this route, let me know and I can do a referral for you
and we both get a bonus ;)

Cheers,
Jason
