Cedric,

I agree with your strategy that simplest is the most efficient for vast
majority of cases.

Even if I didn't configure NUT to shutdown at a certain percentage of
battery, the defaults force other thresholds on you.
So you are back to square one. Perhaps you are implying to not use NUT at
all?

In my case, I don't trust file systems and hardware to be always resilient.
Mostly they are ext4 on spinning rust.
Others are ext4 on SD cards (Raspberry Pi)

I know that ext4 has a journal, but is it completely bullet proof?

And I know there are newer file systems out there, but they require more
work, and major effort to convert to.

Hence the "orderly shutdown" method for the UPS.
