I don't like snap either for many reasons.
Most of all, is that it breaks the discipline that the .deb world worked so
hard for ...

On Xubuntu, where I am typing this from, I have Firefox installed from an
apt PPA by the Mozilla Team.
It is not a wrapped snap package, and there no snapd on this machine at all.

(Actually Firefox ESR, which is less chaotic than regular Firefox's upgrade
cycle)
