At work, I was recently required to change my desktop from Linux to 
Windows.

To continue being productive, I converted my Linux environment into a 
VM, and RDP to it. It works rather well. Like many other things in 
Wayland, this sort of thing is up to the compositor to implement, rather 
than being implemented in the protocol (for better and worse).

In Gnome settings, enable "Remote Login". You can set a user/password to 
limit access over RDP. Once you connect, you're given a GDM login 
screen, and you then log in with your user credentials. Sessions persist 
between disconnects.

It works rather well.
