Wireguard is awesome.  I like it's ssh-like key management, and it's
overall simplicity.  It is reported to be very fast too, and also
very silent when there is no traffic.

OpenVPN is like Word compared to Wireguard's vim. :-)

Now, I'm not a super expert in either one, but I think wireguard is
more host-focused, while OpenVPN has the ability to go user-focused
as well, in the sense that you can login to your VPN with a
username/password if desired.  Meanwhile, wireguard is there at the
low level that should "just work"... it serves you just like your
router and your cabling.  Nothing fancy, and it is too low on the
abstraction layer to worry about things like users.

Just my impressions.
