One thing I've found lacking, which closed-source wikis like Confluence
have, is finer grained permissions over pages.  Mediawiki at least
has users and somewhat rough global permissions, but certainly
nothing robust.  The open source wikis are built for sharing information.

How's Dokuwiki?
