As Megan and Martin mentioned in the last KWLUG meeting, the Drupal
User Group is organizing a Southwestern Ontario Drupal Camp on
Thursday, October 24, at the Kitchener Public Library (central
branch).
At this point they are requesting presentations. The sessions can be
about Drupal but don't have to be. From their submission page at
https://swo.drupalcanada.org/submit-session
> We are looking for talks on anything related to building websites,
> including website design, website development, marketing, SEO, AI,
> project management, leadership, human factors, and more. It does not
> have to be Drupal-related. In fact, we will be happy to have some
> talks from outside of the Drupal-verse.

> We also encourage a variety of session formats including Q&A, panel
> discussions, and team presentations as well as talks aimed at a
> range of experience levels.
Session submissions are due on September 26, which is just a little
over a week away. If you are interested then please propose something.
Invite your webdev friends to submit as well.
If you know some localish people who work in Drupal but may not be
connected to the local Drupal User Group please let them know this
event exists.
Soon (maybe next week?) the camp will also open attendee registration.
It is not clear whether there will be a registration fee or not; the
ticket price will probably be something between $0 to $25. I will send
another ping to the group when that happens.
I am also obligated to say that the event is open to sponsorships. If
you are rich and/or work for a company that might be interested in
sponsoring the event, please get in touch. If there are sufficient
sponsors then it is more likely that the event will be gratis.
Finally, at some point there will be a call for volunteers for the day
of the event. You won't need to know anything about Drupal to be a
volunteer -- the tasks will be standard
setup/teardown/registration/gofer things. Would you be available and
interested in volunteering, or do you know some people who might? You
can send potential volunteers my way and I will forward them to the
organizers. There will likely be some webform to fill out at some
point but advance notice would be helpful.
