Bell provides Fibre To The Home at my address.  No other provider will do 
so.  They want to provide only one fibre.  But I asked for a second 
service to the basement.  The idea is that it might be a separate 
household.

Bell has several unfair advantages over third party resellers.  Once 
consequence is that the only resellers are Teksavvy and Bell's own flanker 
brands.  Telus is trying to move into Ontario so they might as well.

I went with Teksavvy because they are the only provider that will give me 
a static IP address.  (Businesses can get static IP addresses, but that 
service is really expensive.)

Unfair advantages of Bell over 3rd party resellers:

- service requests pass through the 3rd party to Bell.  It is believed 
  that service requests take a lot longer to resolve.

- the wholesale price that Bell charges 3rd party ISPs it about the same 
  as the retail deals that consumers can get from Bell.  Sometimes better.  

- Bell bundles services over the single connection that the 3rd party ISPs 
  cannot do: "home phone" (not the same as a SIP phone), TV channels with 
  STB and fake PVR.  And bundle discounts for mobile phone etc.

I plan to eventually ditch Bell.
