Last year I migrated to a Raspberry Pi 4 and external USB HDD using
OpenMediaVault, the idea was to reduce power consumption.

I only use NFS and DLNA (RealMedia a.k.a. MiniDLNA.) NFS for Linux and
android, and DLNA for playing media on smart TVs. I used to stream music to
Sonos speakers using SMB, but I switched to Spotify a few years ago. SSH is
enabled, so SFTP and other SSH protocols work as needed.
