Problem with JBOD is no redundancy, whereas RAID 5 (or RAID 1, RAID 10, etc.) is great for redundancy. I'm playing with the idea of using a Raspberry Pi 5, once I find a decent solution to attaching a bunch of disks. Plus, I have my 3D printer standing by to build a case for the new NAS, once I get the hardware plans settled.
