    <p>I don't mind butchering, but the information online is that those
      HP power supply are using 3 connectors having a resistor on the
      third middle one. Based on the resistance the device knows how
      much power it can draw and if it doesn't have a power supply with
      the right resistor it would refuse to power up at all. <br>
    </p>
    <p>I don't have the connector, but If I can not find an original
      power supply to test I'll take you on your offer and solder the
      power and the resistor directly on the board and see what happens
      :) <br>

            that request, but this AC adapter you need is pretty
            standard, Lenovo uses 20V(19.8 nominally) @ 3.5A with a
            fatty barrel connector. I have a bunch of these. If you want
            to grab one, cut off the barrel connector, solder on a 7mm
            barrel(if you have one) and give that a shot, I am totally
            cool with it. If t630 is working properly, you are welcome
            to keep the adapter, gratis, as I have a bunch. If it no
            workie, I will take it back and re-solder the original
            connector and give it gnarly industrial look that I like so
            much:-).</div>
