<div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">Regarding OVH ...</div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default"><br></div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">I used them perhaps 10 years ago, for a bare metal self managed dedicated server for a client, and they had really impressive servers. </div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">No complaints then. </div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default"><br></div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">Then I moved another client to one of their bare metal self managed dedicated servers.</div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">Epyc CPU, 128GB RAM, NVMe + SSD, ...etc. </div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">Was nice and fast.</div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default"><br></div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">Then one disk died about 2 years ago, and the experience was really bad.</div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">There is no phone support at all. They want everything through their ticket system.</div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">They took their time to replace the disk. Many hours of downtime. </div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">Even when they did, they left the server in the UEFI stage! </div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">Was hard to find out that this is the case, because I can't get anyone on the phone.</div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">I switched the configuration to boot from the SSD, and the server came up. </div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">Too much downtime for nothing. </div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default"><br></div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">Just switched that client to another dedicated server for the same amount of money at a different provider.</div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">Both the client and provider are US based though. </div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default"><br></div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">Having said that, $6.50 a month for a basic VPS is a very good deal.</div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">($4.95 is even better, but the difference is chump change, literally)</div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default"><br></div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">And for non critical stuff, it may be just perfect, and perhaps better managed since it is on internal servers. </div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default"><br></div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">I may switch one VPS that I have to them.</div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">Bonus that they extended the offer to Dec 9th.</div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default"><br></div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">I hope they are not oversubscribing their servers ... </div></div>
