<p><font face="Tomson Talks">Yeah, it's not really clear what all
this is about.</font></p>
<p><font face="Tomson Talks"><br>
</font></p>
<p><font face="Tomson Talks">I see there's been some changes on the
site recently.</font></p>
<p><font face="Tomson Talks">The most prominent link on the front
page is to Memberships: there were </font><font
face="Tomson Talks">seven levels of sponsorship granting access
to about 30 features. This has now been broken down into 3 tabs
for Users, User Groups, Business / Sponsors.</font></p>
<p><font face="Tomson Talks">Also, "Advertise Here" link next to
announcement about KWLUG.</font></p>
<p><font face="Tomson Talks"><br>
</font></p>
<p><font face="Tomson Talks">Seems more focused on collecting money
than participating in existing LUGs.</font></p>
<br>
<p><font face="Tomson Talks">I dunno. I previously thought, "Let him
try to accomplish his lofty goals, no harm." I'm now seeing
prominent requests for funds, multiple payment methods, a slick
web site, but an expectation that LAC is at the centre of Linux
in Canada despite seeming like an outsider.</font></p>
<p><font face="Tomson Talks"><br>
</font></p>
<p><font face="Tomson Talks">Is this guy on any LUG mailing lists,
for example? Those are free and if not even on a mailing list,
how much of a community member is he?</font></p>
<p><font face="Tomson Talks">I guess I'm feeling a shift from "I
don't see how it can work" to "It feels like a cash grab from an
outsider trying to become a middleman."</font></p>
<p><br>
</p>
<p><font face="Tomson Talks">Question 1: How many KWLUG folks are
"members" of multiple LUGs (member meaning on mailing lists)?</font></p>
<p><font face="Tomson Talks"><br>
</font></p>
<p><font face="Tomson Talks">Question 2: How about it Andre - are
you on this list? Care to introduce yourself, discuss LAC's
goals?</font></p>
