<div dir="ltr"><div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">Thought this would be interesting to some here ... </div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default"><br></div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">In the past, I bought older routers and installed OpenWRT on them. </div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default"><br></div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">We no longer need to do that, because there are new routers that allow flashing with OpenWRT, and have new features (e.g. WiFi 6).</div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default"><br></div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">One such router is <a href="https://www.amazon.ca/Cudy-WR3000S-Ethernet-Antennas-Wireguard/dp/B0CYT3Q54S?">Cudy</a><a href="https://www.amazon.ca/Cudy-WR3000S-Ethernet-Antennas-Wireguard/dp/B0CYT3Q54S?"> WR3000S</a>. Very reasonably priced.</div></div><div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">Only thing I see missing is a USB port, though this is not a crucial function.</div><br clear="all"></div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">Installation was straightforward:</div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">1. Download a signed OpenWRT image from Cudy&#39;s Google Drive.</div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">2. Flash the router with that.</div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">3. Download the latest OpenWRT image for this specific router.</div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">4. Flash it as a sysupgrade image from the LuCI menus.</div><div><br></div><div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">That is it. </div></div><div><br></div><div><div style="font-size:small" class="gmail_default">There are other brands that support plain OpenWRT, such as GL.inet, but they are more expensive.  </div><br></div><span class="gmail_signature_prefix">-- </span><br><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature">Khalid M. Baheyeldin</div></div>
