[kwlug-disc] IRC connection issues

Sounds like port 6667 is blocked over the vpn.  Lots of Viruses/backdoors etc have been known to install irc clients as a way to create a botnet in the past, this is probably why it’s denied as the service is shunned by the firewall.

However once you are connected to the VPN, do you send ALL traffic over the VPN?  I would hope you configured your device to only send traffic destined for the VPN over the VPN, and not ALL traffic.  This could work around having the VPN connected and have IRC working at the same time…
