I recently attempted learning GNU parallel again since the first time
didn't stick.  I discovered the man page references some quick
instructional videos:

These were helpful.  Also, the author offers to give talks
about it, which I thought might be worth a mention here, for those
times we are looking for KWLUG speakers.
