[kwlug-disc] cell phone plans

It's been a few years since I last posed this question, but what are you
folks using for cellphone plans, and how deliriously happy are you with
them?
The reason I ask is that our current provider, Zoomer (aka Cityfone) is
being eaten by Rogers. I have Rogers SIM cards that came in the mail as
part of their "welcome to the machine" plan (not the actual plan name), but
I'm not a fan of either Rogers nor Bell.
What we currently have for a plan is simple: two people (Wifeski and I)
share the minutes and data. Plan costs $60 a month. She's on the phone 23
hours a day, either talking or texting or reading Facebook. My phone sits
on the shelf and forwards any calls to my work phone. So all I need,
really, is call forwarding, while she needs the unlimited data and voice.
Thankfully she's on the home wi-fi most of the day so that helps with the
data charges.
According to www.planhub.ca, my cheapest options are with either Public
Mobile or Fizz. Basically $23 per months gets you unlimited calling and
6GB data, for one person. You can see why I like the idea of shared
voice/data plans. But between the two of us, 6GB data should do it.
We would like to keep our current phones, although mine is an antique
Samsung Galaxy SIII, while hers is cracked, so if we're forced to get new
phones then so be it.
Does anyone have any suggestions for new cellphone plans?
Thanks!
