The Magic SysRq keys should work?

I have had to use 

Alt+SysRq+r - to free the keyboard
Alt+SysRq+b - to reboot

There are other invocations to do other things, but if I assert
confidently that these are the only two you need to know then I'm sure
some KWLUG members will correct me and offer other useful advice.
