Long time lurker here.

I had my notes on Wunderlist, exported them to Microsoft To do when they 
got bought, but could not install it on a PC without a Microsoft account.

I found Joplin last year after looking into other things (Notion 
included, which was more work than fun).

Joplin is simple, synchronizes well and they release often.
