Thanks Chris and Ron,

A few days ago, I got the 1500VA CyberPower one that is sold at Costco.
Its price is reasonable ($199), and I have 90 days to return it if I
don't like anything about it.

It works, and is smaller than the 1200VA APC unit that died.
It is supported by NUT using the same USB HID driver as Chris.

Now plodding through the NUT configuration.
The package is certainly more complex, and more modular, than apcupsd;
which I have been using for close to two decades.
